SOME 100 runners and sports enthusiasts took time out to attend the Milo 3 in 1 – APEX Running School Road Show held at the Baguio Athletic Bowl recently.
The running clinic is one of the features of the incoming 37th Milo National Marathon – Baguio Qualifying Leg to be held on November 3.
Milo marathon race director Che Alberto said the event aims to educate local runners about the proper mechanics to be observed by competitors.
“It was good that we came up with the training clinic to serve as a ground for learning sa mga local runners natin,” said Alberto.
“Hopefully it will add to their knowledge what to do and what to avoid, at sana rin ma-share nila sa lahat ng iba pang wala doon sa training nay un,” Alberto added.
The two day event was facilitated by visitors and coaches from APEX Running School Athletic Performance Enhancement Specialist, headed by coach Jim Saret who has a degree in sports medicine and athletic training from Bringham Young University.
Participants were given lessons in injury prevention, biomechanics of running, strength and core training, stability training, and also on nutrition and hydration education.
Alberto said most runners especially here in the northern regions should be well trained and educated because of the challenging terrains.
“Different kasi ang pagtakbo dito sa lugar natin where maraming paakyat at pababa na mga area which could really harm our local athletes, unlike sa ibang lugar na almost flat ang mga route ng races,” Alberto added.
“Baka kasi marami ang nag-iisip na kapag tumakbo ka tumakbo ka na lang ng basta-basta, we should also know how to keep ourselves knowledgeable on the knowhow of running,” added Alberto.
Organizers of Milo 3 in 1 – Apex run Clinic expect to hold another visit as running has become a popular event amongst a huge number of Filipinos.
