5th ESLympics kicks off November-A A +A

THE Pines International Academy in partnership with the City Government of Baguio, the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region, and Toastmasters International will host the 5th ESLympics to be held on November 23 at the Baguio Country Club.
Dubbed as “One in English to be Globally Number One”, the fifth instalment of the competition aims to provide an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking and writing abilities and to recognize the best as an encouragement to all.
Organizers said the objective of the activity is to achieve the goal of promoting effective English Communication among the youth and provide platform of expression for academic activity to showcase talents outside the classrooms.
Five chosen representatives from each school will battle with their English prowess to gain honor and prestige in the said competition.
Last year, eight university and colleges from Baguio and provinces from Benguet namely the University of the Cordilleras, Philippine Military Academy, University of Baguio, STI-Baguio, Kings College of the Philippines, Pines City Colleges, Philippine Women’s University, and Baguio Colleges Academy participated in the occasion.
Organizers of the event said they will be expecting a larger delegation from different educational institutions this year.
Competition will include international speech contest, humorous speech contest, impromptu speaking contest, and essay writing contest.
All of the above mentioned category will be judged according to the criterions set through the specified rules included in their judge’s code of ethics.
Prior to the main competition on November, eliminations for student entries will be done in each participating schools.
