Castañeto shuts door for Kenyans-A A +A

CESAR Castañeto withstood a tough challenge by foreign runners to top the second Eye Run Coz I care 2 which fired off runners at the Baguio Convention Center.
The University of the Cordilleras student registered a time of 1:11:05 to top the 17 kilometer division, four minutes faster than Kenyan Samuel Tarus who crossed the finish line with a time of 1:15:58 in the fund raiser for the Northern Luzon Association for the Blind.
Another Kenyan in Julius Kimunge came in third with a time of 1:16:27 while Robert Arrelano and Gremil Galut completed the top five.
In the distaff side, it was Kenyan Irene Kipchumba who clocked 1:37:01 to top the event hatched by the Lions Club of Baguio while Yvonne Balag-ey came in second with a time of 1:49:40 as Leda Orpilla (1:52:26), Jessica Hieras (1:54:34) and Rhuena Biala (1:57:04) completed the top five.
Philip Ronoh topped the 9k event with a time of 31 minutes and 30 seconds while Edwin Generalao came in second with a time of 32 minutes and 42 seconds. Aldrin Seno finished third with a time 34 minutes and 49 seconds.
Jessa Mangsat was the fastest in the 9k distaff side with a time of 37 minutes and 24 seconds besting Janette Agura and Ana Liza Maraan who crossed the checkered line with a time of 41:03 and 47:26 respectively.
Palarong Pambansa medalist Ike Kevin Yagin topped the 5k run with a time of 18 minutes and 13 seconds while Alex Balanag and Macmac Lorana came in second and third respectively.
Cherry Doronila meanwhile topped the ladies 5k side with a time of 23:46 as Angel Lumpias and Rosenie Hull came in second and third in exact order.
Charles Cervera was the fastest in the 3k adult with a time of 11 minutes and 48 seconds edging Jordan Tanawe and Nelson Layugan while Jolina Jose topped the ladies side with Marilous Balla and Alma Pal-iwan checked in second and third.
Hussein Lorana bested the younger Hassan Lorana in the 3k kiddie division with a time of 13 minutes and .03 seconds as Jon Ernes Espada finished third.
Cathy Yesa Ramos won the 3k girls side with a time of 19.02 minutes as Yosef Lorana finished second.
