MULTI–TITLED race car driver Carlos Anton marked his return to circuit racing with a huge win at the Batangas Racing Circuit recently.
The restaurateur won three of the rain soaked Philippine Touring Car Championship races under the banner of Ethanworx Racing Team to pilot their race car.
Anton, the lap record holder at BRC, made use of all his experience by snatching the pole position for the weekend clocking 1 min 53.834 seconds over 2010 Champion Joey Perry and 2012 Champion William Tan and winning race 3 of the championship.
“It feels great to be back in a Touring Car and the Ethanworx race car was very well prepared. The suspension worked perfectly and that made us win under the adverse conditions,” said the Castrol-Yokohama multiple champion driver Anton who last won the championship in touring cars way back in 2007 in the Philippine GT crown.
“We are very happy with Carlos’ win because it’s the first time in our team’s history that we won at the top level of Motorsports here in the country,” Ethanworx team owner Jon Mark Ong said.
A heavy downpour wet the track right before the race started and Anton fell back behind Dwight Carlos in the first two laps.
“I followed Dwight for 2 laps and he was very fast but he hit a puddle in the back straight at over 150kph and spun the car around so I was able to take the lead and held it to the finish,” Anton added.
Anton and Ethanworx are backed by Yokohama, Castrol, Viewpark Hotel, Cars Unlimited, ASR Suspensions, Hornitex Laminated Flooring, Special Stage and Autoshack.
