LA TRINIDAD Benguet pinned down Philippine Military Academy in the on-going eliminations round of the men's volleyball of the 1st Domogan Cup Baguio Benguet Inter Employee Volleyball Tournament.
Team La Trinidad cruised over a clean 3-0 set victory, 25-21, 25-14, 25-17, to upset PMA at the PFVR gym Tuesday afternoon.
Bhogs Ham rallied La Trinidad with his nine points and two blocks that helped his team bag another win.
Municipal sports coordinator Jay Sano said their team did a terrific job on distributing the ball on the floor.
“Maganda ang naging reception ng mga players sa floor, talagang pinagbutihan nila ang ikot ng bola para lituhin ang mga kalaban,”said Sano.
“Hopefully sa next na laro mas palalakasin pa namin ang offense at defense, dapat na ngayon pa lang ay paghandaan na iyon team namin,” Sano added.
La Trinidad started out strong in set one against PMA with an 8-3 lead as Ham and Edgar Kitab ruled the floor with their good offensive strategy.
But the serving soldiers of PMA kept the gap close as Joel Sobrera, Mark Andrew Mislang, Mark Tamayo, and Fernando Tacay step-up their game to put the score, 13-14, LTB on edge.
Team La Trinidad then commanded the floor with their good floor defense that forced errors on the side of PMA.
PMA staged a comeback on the second set as with an early 5-1 lead, but it was a short gala for the team as Wilber Duligas and Benji Madriaga of LTB tightened their defense to tie the ballgame, 10-10.
LTB then doused PMA’s offense and committed errors that led a scramble on the side of the soldiers.
La Trinidad continued to explode in the third set with Ham, Kitab, and Duligas chipping in ten points to deliver their competition to their defeat.
“Malakas din ang mga nakalaro namin pero siguro motivated lang kami na manalo today, since noong matalo kami by mere points against sa BJMP, talagang ang naging focus namin eh bawasan errors sa rotation ng bola kapag naglalaro,” Ham added.
