BAGUIO Central School–Department of Education trounced Department of Health in the on-going eliminations round of the women’s volleyball of Domogan Cup Baguio Benguet Inter Employee Volleyball Tournament season 1.

BCS-DepEd flourished over a 2-0 set victory, 25-16, 25-15, as Roxan Almonte scored 14 points to rally her team against DOH during at the PFVR gym.

"We are simply happy, it’s just about time that we score a win in this tournament kasi most of the time na-dedefault kami dahil sa schedule ng mga laro," said Balawon.

"The important thing is that we enjoyed, kahit papaano we are able to compete with other players from other offices which for us eh malaking bagay to loosen with our stress," Balawon added.

DOH opened the first set with an early 1-3 lead as Martha Bania-ao and Noemi Tagudar command the floor with good ball movement.

But BCS-DepEd was able to adjust with their team play and catch-up their opponents and tie the ballgame, 5-5.
The DOH lady smashers however once again took advantage and trail BCS behind a close 7-10 score, until Almonte exploded for BCS scoring five consecutive points that snatched the set from DOH.

Team DOH found themselves hapless at the start of the second set as Almonte, Balawon, Jennifer Pinlac, and Violeta Valdez chip in ten points that brought team BCS-DepEd to a 16-9 advantage.

DOH staged to bounce back from the narrow deficit but BCS-DepEd smelled blood stepping-up on their defense that closed the deal for their squad.

"Masaya na nakapag-laro at nanalo kami this time, gusto lang namin na ipakita na kahit marami na kaming record ng talo due to default eh may chance pa rin naman at kayang-kaya namin na manalo," said Almonte.

"We hope na sa next na game kakayanin pa rin ng team na humabol hindi man sa top one and two, at least yung third place mahabol namin," Almonte added.
