WITH the province set to host the annual regional sports meet, Benguet is trying to fastrack the improvements being done at the Benguet Sports Center in Wangal, La Trinidad.
Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan earlier said the improvement of other facilities in the sports complex should be done in time for the hosting of the annual Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association.
Division sports coordinator and Benguet athletic manager Pablo Khayog Jr. said they are already speeding up developments in preparation for the largest sporting event for elementary and high school students in the region come February next year.
"We will try to finish the construction of the covered court and the development rin ng iba pang facilities para maayos ang magagamit ng mga bata," said Khayog.
"The governor already said whatever the needs for the coming CARAA, he will try to support since ikabubuti naman ito ng mga participants," Khayog added.
Benguet Province will be the host of more than 10,000 delegations of athletes and coaches and chaperons from Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, and Baguio City for next year's athletic event.
Apayao recently hosted the regional sports meet for the first time and was lauded by the different visiting provinces and Baguio City for their ingenious management of the athletic meet.
According to Khayog, they are already communicating with the other provinces including Baguio in their hopes to improve expectations in the hosting of the event.
“We are also in communication sa iba pang sports coordinators so they can help suggest in things we need to focus with,” said Khayog.
“Hopefully maihabol natin ang mga iyan, we will try to look on possible actions after we finish with the provincial meet,” Khayog added.
