HOSTILITIES in the annual Cordillera Higher Education Sports Athletic Association have taken a back seat with the rescheduling of the volleyball tournament which is supposed to open this week.
CHESAA executive board vice president 2013 and volleyball event coordinator Ricardo Umayam said they have rescheduled the volleyball games in this season’s second phase activities.
“Although we are pushing early the highlight sports event for the second phase, most of the board members agreed to postpone it since maraming activities na conflict with the schedule,” said Umayam.
“Some of the member school heads raised the issue that it will coincide with the major exams so we agreed to move it next month,” Umayam added.
Organizers said they will move the volleyball games early in January when there will be fewer activities in contrast with it.
The second phase of the season was earlier scheduled December 7 where some nine teams from the different schools will battle for honors.
Umayam said although the activity was moved to a later date they will try and see to it that it will still hold to meet with the schedule as set by the executive board.
“Mas gipit tayo sa time but that will be the challenge and we will see to it that maihahabol natin before the culminating activities coming this February 2014,” Umayam said.
Meanwhile CHESAA executive committee 2013 president Vladimir Cayabas said they are looking forward to a successful hosting of the sport.
“Volleyball is one of the highlights in CHESAA’s annual celebration, this year we look forward to showcasing the sport talents of our students,” Cayabas said.
“Hopefully audiences will give full support just like in the basketball tournament held earlier in the first phase,” Cayabas added.
Other sport activities to be held this season also include table tennis, badminton, athletics, arnis, karatedo, sepak takraw, and litmus competition. The CHESAA board will also showcase during their culminating activity the most awaited Search for Miss CHESAA next year.
School and colleges participating this year include AMA Computer College, Baguio College of Technology, Benguet School of Business and Technology, Benguet Vocational School, Data Center College of the Philippines, Easter College, Kings College of the Philippines, NIIT – Baguio, Philippine Nazarene College, Philippine Women’s University, and HML College.
