Mizuno pads lead; Forest Hills falter in Fil-Am Golf-A A +A

MIZUNO Superstars padded their lead to nine as defending champion falters in the premiere Fil Championships flight of the 64th San Miguel Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament at the Baguio Country Club lay-out.
Ace Stehmeier led the 2011 champion’s charge with 34 for the team’s 121 and 244 total and take a nine point lead over Team Sparta.
King Stehmeier added an eagle aided 30, Rod Mangalubnan made 31, and Justin Limjap chipped in 26 for the team’s cause as they take a break today before action resumes at the nearby par 69 CJH course.
Sparta came to the game prepared as Tonlits Asistio made a one over 35 and 118 total for a two day 235 which is good for second spot.
Erwin Temena contributed 31 for Sparta and 26s from Rading Decepida and Alex Ignacio which overtook the faltering defending champion Forest Hills.
Forest Hills limped home with 103 to fall to third spot with 225 and is seven up on many champion Manila Southwoods which improved to 111 on the one over 35 of Junjun Plana.
Over at the CJH course, Batangas Barako had 35 from Gerald Katigbak for the team’s 110, a 227 total and a three shot lead on overnight leader Mizuno Superstars.
Rudy Amata added 30 for the Barakos, while Jun Arceo and Mark Mendoza chipped in 23 and 22 for the team.
After starting two up on the Barakos, Mizuno fumbled with 105 on the 30 of Tonito Payumo, the pair of 27s from Denden de Castro and Bones Floro and the 21 from either Raymund Bunquin and Joaquin Tolentino, one of which did not count in the five to play, four to count tournament presented by Toyota.
Two teams are two shots down with Northwoods Pacsports shooting a 109 for a 223 total, even as Che’lus, which was beaten by Mizuno through countback in 2011, had a 114 for the same output.
Co-host Baguio Country Club scored 106 points and overtake overnight leader Eagle Master I at the top of Fil-A at their own course.
Goodie Ignacio scored 32 points as the co-host team tallied 210 and take an eight shot lead over the erstwhile leader which shot 97 riding high on the 28 of senior’s ace maker Eugene Martin. Eagle Master has 202 points and two up on Team Surigao which equalled its first day production of 100 for an even 200.
Edgardo Pagulayan shot 31 points as Isabela Golf Club slowed to 105 for 218 points and a 10 shot lead in Am-A at the CJH course.
Batch 92 had 98 points for a two day total of 208 and a 10 point advantage of co-host CJH which shot 94.
Team Surigao I slowed down with 94 for 199 points but still increased its lead to 13 midway in Fil B.
Ultra Flight GC I scored 90 for 186 but its lead on third ranked Haciendas de Naga reduced to three.
Allan Rubrica and Cocoy Suraik had a pair of 29 as Ultra Flite Golf Club 1 made 104 points for a two day tally of205 to vault from third to top spot in Am B.
Benlife II made 92 points for 196 to assume second spot, while overnight leader Rural Bankers I slipped with an 87 to fall to third spot with 192.
Fil Am Japan II had 88 points for 182 and a 12 shot lead over two teams in Fil D. Square & Compass of Nueva Ecija had 92 and caught up with San Miguel Corporation with 170 points.
Team Surigao II shot 79 points for 166 and take a two shot lead on first round New Jersey New York BIBAK, which made 74 and 164 total. At third spot is Pacific Rim which made 85 and a shot further at 163.
