YOUNG athletes of Itogon and Tuba continue to reap more honors in the ongoing Benguet Provincial Athletic Meet 2013 held in the Provincial Sports Center in Wangal, La Trindad.
The two municipalities' high schoolers and elementary athletes showcased their raw talent as they land atop the athletic competition.
Pedro Elizer from Tuba topped the 3000 secondary meter steeple race with 11:51:02, as Mankayan's Bruce Clinton Bumughawi with 12:22:62, and Bakun's Melvin Cubangay with 12:26:51 placed in the second and third spot accordingly.
In the distaff, Marian Lungab from Bakun bested the competition, clocking 12:41:00, with Bernalyn Teneng 13:03:81 also from Bakun, and Freda Onse from Atok coming in third with 13:11:81, also in the same 3000 meter steeple event.
Meanwhile, in the 200-meter elementary boys, Phyrmer Pocdo of Itogon finished first with 28.96, Janray Ayeo Eo also from Itogon with 28.98, and Buguias' Randy Macario clocking 29.06 took the top three in the event.
The 200-meter elementary distaff was topped by Anabel Alba from Tuba, clocking 30.9 seconds, with Leanne De Jesus from La Trinidad seconding with 31.0, and Itogon's Jerrielyn Segundo finishing third with 31.16.
Kapangan's Rexel Watawat topped the triple jump elementary boys with his 9.57-meter record, while Dave Calisay from La Trinidad come in second with 9.36-meter, and Michael Tumpao's 9.03 also from La Trinidad took third place.
In the elementary girls division, Itogon's Juvy Gali recorded an 8.68-meter jump to top the event, with Kapangan's Angelita Padua and Maricel O-oc recording 8.24 and 8.09 meters to land second and third placers.
Itogon got another medal in the elementary javelin girls' event courtesy of Janelle Pay-an with 26.69 meter throw, while Claissa Paunget from Bakun (24.18), and Jona Sapilio from Mankayan (23.58) settled for second and third, respectively.
In the elementary boys, Roden Duran from Tuba recorded 34.41 to land atop, with Kabayan's Kim Jaye Agustin throwing 30.26 to snatch the second spot, and Johnrey Palmito recording his 29.58 meter throw and rank third for Atok. (Mark Pasagoy)
