Thousands in 1st BAPTI fun run-A A +A

RUNNING enthusiasts are once again seen to answer the starting gun as the Baguio Association of Private Technical-Vocational Institutions Inc. hosts its first fun run, which starts at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.
With the theme "We don't only train, We also care", the activity hosted by National Institute of Information and Technology will be one of the largest locally organized running event, which fires off runners on December 15.
The running event is expecting more than 1,000 with participants coming from the member schools and runners from all over as well.
BAPTI 2013 president Vladimir Cayabas said the event will be the year-end activity for BAPTI and at the same time a fund raising activity for the victims of typhoon Yolanda.
"This is the first time we have organized a running event with our cause to help our compatriots in the Visayas at the same time promote good health and good relationship in our organization as well with the community," said Cayabas.
"Our partner schools sa BAPTI has given their pledge to at least send 50 participants, with the looks of it maybe more so talagang malaki ang number natin," Cayabas added.
Cayabas said they will also welcome interested participants who want to compete in the fun run.
Registration for the activity will be in the minimal amount of 75 pesos only.
The 8K distance will start at the athletic oval Kisad Road, going out to BGH Rotonda heading to University of the Philippines drive, all the way to Panagbenga Park extending to Southdrive and back to finish at the Melvin Jones.
All participants will receive certificates and the top five finishers from the male and female division will receive surprise prizes.
Cayabas added BAPTI will also hold a half-day community service after the event to be held at People’s Park where they will offer free haircut, pedicure, manicure, and massage.
Participating schools include AMA Computer College, Baguio College of Technology, Baguio School of Business and Technology, BTVSTC, CSDD, Data Center College of the Philippines, Datamex College, GMS Institute, Informatics, Medline International Training Institute, Meridian College, MMS DTCC, NTUi, Philippine Women’s University, Pines City College Inc., University of Baguio, STI College, VIGOR, and its newly acquired member Providence Polytechnic Institute.
