EIGHTEEN local squads open their campaign as the first season of Budz Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament officially kicked off December 8 at the Easter College gymnasium.
Players from all-over Baguio City and Benguet will once again showcase their basketball skills as the first instalment of the basketball season formally opened.
Event organizer Edwin “Budz” Edades said the tournament will incorporate the purpose of promoting health and camaraderie among the enthusiasts of the sport.
“As usual we hold events like this to promote physical health, good friendship, and brotherhood among the basketball loving community,” said Edades.
“More of it, we help by means of keeping our fellow people away from vices that does not only damage but will also generate problem in our society,” Edades added.
The basketball tournament officiated by the National Amateur Basketball Referees Association (NABRO) will run from December until the end of January and will be held in BCNHS Auditorium and Easter College gyms.
Edades said participating teams are categorized into three brackets namely skilled, regular, and unskilled to give precedence to the know-hows of the players.
Playing teams for bracket A include BEM, Dagsian United, Narcita Glass and Aluminium, Sergiross, GWE 2, Codalian, Chias, BEAT and Angluben.
Bracket B teams comprise of Diaz Construction, TJ Collections, Berkeley Pops, team Tagay, E and G, Dos Mil Dos, Gators, BGH, and Son Anton.
“Yung third bracket by late December pa mabubuo, although meron na mga teams na kasali we are finalizing the line-up para makahabol yung mga ibang teams,” said Edades.
“We look forward to the success ng unang instalment ng tournament, pero with the number ng participants maganda na agad ang simula,” Edades added.
