ATHLETES from Benguet State University dominated their rivals to take an early lead in the medal tally of the ongoing Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and College Athletic Meet 2013.
Maynard Deponio led BSU’s authority in the men’s running long jump event with a record of 5.90 meter While Kevin Belingon from Ifugao State University (IFSU) settled for second with 5.78 meter jump, and Joshua Padang saved the third spot of Kalinga Apayao State College (KASC) with his 5.72 distance.
Maria Lourdes Obidos added to BSU’s medal haul as she record a 26.92 distance in the women’s discus throw event, with co-ed Lanie Lagmay settling for second place on a 22.04 heave while KASC’s Sharon Lubbagon salvaged third place with 20.63.
Cesar Ryan Immadpang from IFSU lands atop the men’s discus throw event with a 28.49 meter distance, while Jeremy Liyac from Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) snatched the second spot with 27.25, and Gedion Bernardez with 25.97 ranked third for KASC.
Top three leaders in the men’s 800 meter run semi-finals are MPSPC’s Alexis Bismonte (2:10:13), BSU’s Johnson Kidkid (2:14:14), and IFSU’s Ramos Muscate (2:21:24).
Cristina Deponio from BSU (13:65), Marilou Aban (14:56) and Harmony Valdez (14:63) both from MPSPC rank top three in the women’s 100 meter dash semi-finals.
BSU is eyeing for a rare four peat over- all crown after ruling the regional competitions from 2010 where they have already won the perpetual trophy.
