BENGUET State University taekwondo jins kicked their way to the top in the ongoing Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and College (CARASUC) athletic meet 2013.

Hauling eight gold and six silver medals, BSU dominated six other schools with their 8-6 gold and silver medal tally in the tae kwon do competitions of the regional meet for state colleges and universities in the region.

Reyail Delizo and Harland Zachary Pawid bested the competition in the men’s feather weight and middle weight category.
Joanne Rose Bognadon, Ma Shanice Bravo, Jhema Sukil-ap, and Joyce Pa-yen also added the cause for BSU in the women’s fin, fly, feather, light, and welter weight divisions.

Meanwhile Giovanne Salas, Henrick Garambas, Asher Pinos-an, Giselle Ocyaden, and Kasper Baon bagged silver medals in the men’s fin, bantam, feather, light, welter, middle, and heavy weight divisions, together with Raiza Blaize Pangosban for the Bantam weight distaff.

Mountain Province State Polytechnic College ranked second in the overall with a 4-1-4 gold-silver-bronze tally, with Apayao State College coming in a decent third earning a 3-1-3 medal record.

Contenders from the Ifugao State University fell short of expectations as they went to win 2-2-1 medal haul, with University of the Philippines-Baguio and Kalinga Apayao State College taking one gold apiece, while Abra State Institute of Science of Technology had only one silver and one bronze.

CARASUC is the regional association of state universities and colleges here in the Cordillera region, governed by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) which was established to give importance to the role of the different SUC’s nationwide.

Winning athletes in the said sports event will represent Cordillera in next year's national meet against different SUC’s.
