PACIFIC Xtreme Combat fighter Jerome Wanawan is set to headline the eight staging of Team Lakay Championship this December 14 at the Baguio Convention Center.
After winning three fights, Wanawan is on a two fight skid and hopes to bounce back as he battles Muay Thai specialist Dindo Camansa of Reamico-Biagtan Cavite in the main event of the eight mix martial arts fight and three sanda bouts.
Coach Mark Sangiao said the 8th Team Lakay Championships is envisioned to form a pool of local athletes and inspire others to be the pride of their communities and promote the practice of wushu, the base martial arts sport of Team Lakay.
“It is also a way of scouting for exceptional athletes. In fact, we’ve expedited the awarding of college scholarship through the Wushu Federation of the Philippines to talented but underprivileged athletes,” he said.
