MPSPC arnisadors steal limelight

MOUNTAIN Province State Polytechnic College struck with confidence and ease to land atop the arnis event of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and College athletic meet 2013.

Towering with their 12-6 gold and silver medal haul, MPSPC arnisadors toppled Benguet State Univeristy’s dominance in the meet to settle for second with a 9-4-3 medal tally.

Nicole Gut-omen led the onslaught for MPSPC winning over Leo Duma-el (BSU) in the men’s labanan bantam weight division. Kurt Pachong (MPSPC) dominated the feather weight category conquering Leomar Hortado of Apayao State College (ASC) and Leonard Balagot (BSU) to take the second and third places.

Charlie Ken Bantasan (MPSPC) hit first place, with second and third placers Johny Ibana(ASC) and Jim Ebanio (BSU) in the light weight division.

Chad Sacopen (MPSPC), John Lester Austri (ASC), and Dece Jan Burgos took the top three spots in the men’s welterweight category.

Kery Von Afid (BSU) won the gold by defeating Kyle Lumiwes (MPSPC) in the middle weight category, while Kiran Aben took the solo award in the cruiser weight division.

In the distaff, Jenny Losnog (BSU) topped the women fly weight category, while Kimberly Balangue (BSU) took the gold mint with Errhyl Alngangeo (MPSPC) to secure the silver in the bantam weight division.

Fely Dongpoen (BSU) won over Ferlane Abadines (MPSPC) in the feather weight battle, while Claudin Odangga (MPSPC) stopped Phyllis Jade Malliting (BSU) in the lightweight category.

Liezel Enggoy (BSU) brought home the gold in the middle weight class, while Brenda Dao-ayan (BSU) defeat Lystra Wangwang (MPSPC) to take the second place.

In the Anyo event, BSU ruled the solo baston event with MPSPC and ASC in second and third place honors respectively.

MPSPC dominated the men’s double baston event while ASC came in second and took the gold medals in the synchronized solo baston and synchronized doble baston category.

MPSPC also took gold medals in the solo, doble baston, synchronized solo, and synchronized doble, with BSU taking silver in the solo and doble baston.

ASC, with their earnest four silvers and one bronze medal haul settled for third in the over-all standings.
