FORMER University of Baguio Cardinals standout Christian Galace turned back the hands of time in firing 32 huge points for Isaac to strengthen its title bid in the open bracket of the Friendship Cup Season 29.
With four rebounds more and four steals, Galace was the driving force in Isaac’s routing of Beneco, 96-79 at the Easter College gym Tuesday evening.
“Siguro advantage namin ngaun na maganda ang ikot ng bola, saka malaking bagay ang defense kung wala yun malamang nakahabol sila noong third quarter,” said Galace after the game.
Isaac started slow, trailing the power distributors by five but Galace together with Rudolf Eilenger combining for 12 points to lead by six, 19-13 at the close of the opening canto.
The power distributor however kept the ball game close tostay within striking distance, 32-27, with 3:42 remaining in the second period.
But Isaac dropped a 15-2 run in the final two minutes of the first half to tear the game wide open at half time.
“Although we played well tonight kailangan pa rin na mag-focus lalo na at malapit ng mag-championship sa tournament, hopefully we’ll do even better next game,” Galgala added.
Beneco staged a comeback in the third canto and narrowed down the deficit at 52-49 with 4:27 left as Emerson Esgana and Alex De Guzman combining for 16 big points.
The power distributors continued to make stops on their opponent’s offensive attacks that close the third quarter at 66-62, ISAAC in a close lead.
Beneco then made it a one point ball game early in the pay off canto after a Mike Bocasan triple for a 66-65 count with9:10 remaining in the ball game.
But a determined ISAAC continued to wreck havoc in the last eight minute of the ball game that tore the gem wide open.
“Hopefully sa next game magiging maganda ulit ang laro at huwag magpapabaya para laging masaya,” Galace added.
