TEAM Lakay’s Tristan Rebuyaco swiftly eliminated Jun Gallano as he finished their anticipated mixed martial arts fight via technical knockout in their recent fight at the Baguio Convention Center Saturday evening.
Rebuyaco put the spectators to their feet as he delivered devastating hammer fists to his opponent’s head in the second round in Team Lakay’s "Championship 8: A December to Remember."
Living up to his name "The Relentless," Rebuyaco attacked the fighter from Daraga, Albay resulting to a referee stoppage due to tap out with 58 seconds remaining in round two.
Team Lakay Coach Mark Sangiao said he is looking forward to the development of his fighter.
"With the power that Tristan had in his fight, it will be a sign or statement that it’s about time for him to go up in a national or maybe an international fight," said Sangiao.
"But even though Team Lakay dominated the event, we expect that there will be more strong fighters to emerge since the MMA community continue to grow, so we should keep training," Sangiao added.
Gallano was the aggressor at the bell’s sound during the first round as he attempted to take Rebuyaco down to the canvass.
But the quick wushu based fighter from Lakay displayed good defense and was able to turn the tables delivering his opponents back to the canvass with his own takedown.
Gallano was able to position into a full guard, but Rebuyaco took advantage of the situation as he slammed his opponent to the ground several times to end the first round.
Rebuyaco took another quick takedown to his opponent at the start of second round where he was able to secure another full mount against his opponent and rained him with powerful hammer fists to the head.
The 25 year old fighter from Lakay Central gym added another victory to his earlier 4-0 win-loss record, while Gallano who hails from Lion’s Den gym in Cavite falls to 1-2 win loss record in his MMA career.
