ISAAC 2 was a class of its own and simply routed Z Radio to advance in the finals of bracket D in the on-going Friendship Cup Season 29.
Von Carlos Padilla scored a game high of 32 points including five rebounds, three assists, and two steals to lead Isaac to the finals in drubbing the radio jockeys to a 111-85 victory at the BCNHS gym recently.
“We look forward into winning the championship, pero until then we must continue with our good teamwork,” said ISAAC coach Sherwin Galgala.
“I have my full confidence this team will be able to finish strong throughout the season, we just have to work harder every game,” Galgala added.
Isaac immediately went to work in the opening canto as Padilla, Justin Benter, and John Batulan combined for a huge 25 big points for a 28-17 lead at the close of the first ten minutes of the ball game.
Z Radio tried to sway the momentum on their side in the second period but Isaac was on as scoring spree with Padilla shooting three out of three from beyond the arc and erect a 62 – 35 advantage at the half.
The radio jocks however slowly trimmed the gap on the combined efforts of Rey Gabino, Edward Pangosban, and Mark Regua carving 20 point run for 83-67 count at the end of the third period.
Z-Radio then came within striking distance to stare at an 89-76 lead with 6:58 remaining in the ball game but found themsleve at an early foul trouble.
From then on Isaac’s Jonathan Collado took charge and dropped 13 big points in the remaining minutes of the ball game to douse cold water on Z Radio’s streaking offense.
“Talagang hindi namin sila pinahabol sa score, mas focused kasi ang team kapag walang iniisip na pressure mula sa mga kalaban,” said Padilla.
“Although nasa waiting list na kami for finals dapat prepared pa rin kami physically at mentally,” Padilla added.
