MULTI-TITLED racer Carlos Anton once again emerged as the country's top driver recently topping the Philippine Touring Car Championship series at the Batangas Race Circuit.
The Baguio bred restaurateur – race driver went on to win three of the last four races to clinch the crown against 2010 titlist Joey Perry and 2012 winner William Tan.
"It was a fantastic weekend and I am so happy to take this title again after being away from Circuit racing since 2007 when we won the Philippine GT Crown. We have been so busy with Hillclimb and Time attack the past years, it’s nice to be back where I’ve won the most which is circuit racing," Anton said.
After being away from Touring Cars, Anton was the king in Hill Climb racing where he won titles from 2007 to 2012, a championship in Autocross (2009), a Time Attack title in 2012 and the Champion of Champions race in 2012.
Despite the long lull, Anton showed no signs of rust as he took pole in every qualifying session and won 8 of the 12 races in the championship with EthanWorx racing.
“I would like to dedicate this most precious championship to my good friend Diego Bautista who passed away recently. He always supported me and cheered me on in my racing career since the 90’s. We miss him dearly,” Anton added.
Anton decided late in the year to go back to Circuit Racing after he was invited by Ethanworx to pilot their 200 horsepower Honda FD prepared by ASR suspensions and Maxspeed.
With the title, Anton has already brought home 24 Philippine Titles, eight of which are from Touring Cars alone.
He has also titles in Slalom, Rallycross, Karting and Formula Cars making him the most versatile driver in the country today.
