DAGSIAN United rolled to an easy victory to drum up their championship bid in bracket A of the ongoing 1st Budz Cup Basketball Invitational Tournament 2013 at the Easter college gym recently.

Dagsian lead all the way right from the start of the opening buzzer handing CHIAS their fifth setback in a row for a convincing 87-68 victory.

“Marami pang upcoming na laro, maganda na nakakapuntos ang mga players because of good ball movement,” said team captain Aries Gazmin after the game.

Gazmin added they need to carry the same game plane and build their momentum around it for their upcoming games.

“Dapat maging focused since mahaba pa ang tatakbuhin ng season, kung maka-chamba siguro makapasok ang team sa semis round,” Gazmin quipped.

Dagsian U took charge of the ballgame when they earned their biggest lead at the second quarter 37-20 with 5:02 running, as Gazmin, William Channas, and Flynn Dawan stepped up on the offense chipping in 18 big points, 10 coming from fast breaks.

But a determined CHIAS squad came up with a 13-3 run carved by Dwight Dela Cruz, Vic Manalili and Carl Sena to trim the gap at 40-33 at the end of the first half.

After getting the much needed rest during the break, Dagsian continued their scoring spree and enjoy their biggest lead of the ball game at 59 – 39 with 2:57 remaining in the third canto with Dawang, Osmena Fayong, and Johnson Carlos chipping in 13 big points during the run.

Dela Cruz however tried to bring CHIAS back into the ball game by converting three triples and trim the gap at 63-48 at the turn of the payoff canto.
Despite the several attempts, Dagsian kept on dousing cold water to every opportunity by CHIAS in scoring their first win after an opening day loss.
Channas topped Dagsian with 18 points including eight steals, five rebounds, and two assists.

Dela Cruz meanwhile led the scoring for CHIAS with his game high 26 points, four steals, two rebounds, and two assists.
