BCT lead SPS volleyball tourney standings

AFTER scoring a hard earned five set victory the last time out, Baguio College of Technology continues to dominate the team standings in the eliminations round of the BCNHS – SPS Invitational Volleyball Tournament-Executive Division.

BCT stole the leadership in the team standings after edging erstwhile undefeated Dontogan Women’s Association in a thrilling 19-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-8, Sunday afternoon in their hopes to boost its championship bid with a 5-1 win loss record.

DWA, despite, its first setback in the tournament remains at the number two spot with a 4-1 card while Baguio City National High School runs third with a 4-2 slate.

Suffering two consecutive losses earlier, BCNHS was able to get back on the winning track defeating City Hall, Benguet Electric Cooperative, Moog Inc., and Commission on Audit.

With a 2-2 record, City Hall seats on fourth place after absorbing back to back defeats from BCt and BCNHS.

MOOG, meanwhile, who boasts of two former college standouts in Krissian Tsuchiya and Grace Solomon finds little luck with a 1-2 card to sit at fifth while COA, powered by Raquel Lamen, is in sixth after failing to win their last two assignments.

Rizal National High School and Beneco continue to struggle with an 0-4 and 0-2 record respectively.

BCNHS-SPS Invitational Volleyball Tournament, originally titled Donaal’s Cup, is now on its third year is expected to run until February 15.

Tournament Director Ortez Gabol said the sports event will be held as a fund raising tournament for the benefit of the SPS students of BCNHS.

“With this tournament, we plan to raise financial funds to improve the facilities and equipment used by our students,” said Gabol.

Gabol also talked about the competition as a place for the different competing offices way of building good camaraderie.

“As requested by the participants, this is a venue for everyone to enjoy and take a break from their stressful fields of work as it promotes sports as a beneficial and useful way of preserving a healthy life style,” added Gabol.

Trophies and certificates will be given to the winning teams at the end of the season, with special citations to the best players of the tournament.
