Dagsian stifles Angluben-A A +A

DAGSIAN United leaned on Aries Gazmin’s 15 point outburst in the second half in edging Team Angluben, 83-66 in the ongoing eliminations round of bracket A in the 1st Budz Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Gazmin finished the ball game with 28 points three rebounds, and one block to strengthen the team’s semis bid.
After trailing the entire first half of the ball game, Dagsian rallied in the third canto before seizing control in the pay off period for the team’s fourth victory in five outings to create a log jam in the team standings at first place behind Sergeross and St. Joseph.
From a 32-34 deficit during the break, Gazmin teamed with Shaun Dao-wan in carving a 9-0 run for a 41-34 lead in the6:46 mark of the third period.
Angluben came close at 45-40 but Dagsian answered back with another nine unanswered points coming from Carlo Munoz and William Channas to extend their lead at 54-40 with 2:54 left in the period.
Eight more points were scored by Dagsian in the remaining minutes of the third canto courtesy of Cristobal Millare and Flynn Dawan and enjoy a 62-43 advantage going into the fourth canto.
Dagsian U secured their largest lead of the night, 71-51, in the 4:51 mark of the fourth quarter, but Angluben tried to stage a comeback on three triples by Dominick Rulloda to pull the team within nine, 73-64 with 3:30 remaining.
Second stringer Munoz added 11 for Dagsian while Rulloda top scored for Angluben with his game high 29 points.
Herdy Addun added 12 points for Angluben including two triples that saw the team earn a two point edge at the close of the first quarter, 15-17.
“Maganda naman ang ipinakita ng mga players during the game, actually yung ball rotation and teamwork ang isa sa mga naging factor para manalo sa game ngayong gabi,” said Dagsian coach Noel Ferrer.
“Bukod sa tight defense naging advantage din ng team ang mga fast plays lalo na pagpasok ng fourth quarter, talagang nagtiwala lang sila sa isat-isa,” Ferrer added.
