Ifugao dominates CARAA wrestling-A A +A

DESPITE being a demonstration sports, Ifugao grappled their way five gold medals to top the wrestling competition in its 2014 CARAA debut being hosted by Benguet.
Ifugao’s lady wrestlers showed the way with four gold medals while their male counterparts had one gold medal to become the sport’s be-medalled squad in the weeklong tournament. Powerhouse Baguio came in second with a 3-1-4 medal haul.
John Mar Pat-angay was the lone gold medalist for Ifugao in the men’s side by topping the 46 kilogram division.
Arselyn Battatong (40 kgs), Lovelyn Bandao (44 kgs), Bless Napiloy (52 kgs) and Clarissa May Hagitan (56kgs) were Ifugao’s gold medalist in the event in the distaff side.
Baguio had three gold medals from the men’s side coming from Jefferson Ignas (42 kgs), Anthony Tenoilar (54 kgs), and Henry Foy-os (58 kgs).
Benguet’s David Caoili won the gold medal in 50 kgs event while Apayao’s Shairyl Joy Ramil (48 kgs) won in the distaff.
Baguio's wushu squad meanwhile took command with five gold medals, one silver and one bronze as Kalinga came in second with two gold medals while Benguet had one gold, six silver and two bronze medals to land third.
Jomar Balangui (47 kgs), Wilford Bagangao (55 kgs), and Jefraen Odalio (64 kgs) won for Baguio while the distaff saw Jennie Cabinto(47 kgs) and Ria Nicole Biswek (51 kgs) winning.
Kalinga's Andres Nape-ek (51 kgs), Ifugao's Reinier Nanglegan (59 kgs) also won gold medals while Love Valeny Alsiyang (55 kgs) of kalinga and Benguet's Aubrey Bugayong (59 kgs) also won gold medals in the distaff.
