Castaneto, Martes tops Panagbenga Run

CESAR Castaneto Jr. and marathon queen Cristabel Martes trail blazed across the finish line to top other competitors in the half-marathon event of the 1st Panagbenga Run 2014 held at the Baguio Athletic Bowl February 16.

University of the Cordilleras' Castaneto topped the men's side with a time of 1:21:02 while Martes conquered the distaff after clocking 1:34:11.

Joseph Somera checked in second with 1:26:38 followed by Robert Arellano clocking 1:30:05 to take the third place honors in the men’s 21K, while Led Orpilla and Rowena Biala rushed in for the second and third with 2:02:24 and 2:05:25 respectively.

Erwin Genarelao was the fastest in the men’s 10K category after clocking 36:53, with Arnold Galap (36:58) coming in a close second while Elizier Pedro (39:18) finished for the third spot.

Jenalyn Kimbatoy lorded in the women’s 10K with 52:46, with Juliet Gayao (1:00:15) and Karla Focno (1:06:51) crossing the second line second and third respectively.

BCNHS’s Reymark Quezada (19:47) topped the men’s 5-kilometer event, while Aldrin Seno (19:58) and ultramarathoner Marcelo Bautista (22:13) finished to take the second and third.

In the distaff, Divina Kitongan (22:53), Jolina Jose (24:36), and Cherry Doronilla (26:06) took the top three for the 5K event.

Meanwhile, Ralph Naoy (13:58), Jannsen Tablang (14:23), and Julius Catalan (14:45) ruled in the male 3-kilometer race, with Crislyn Cudli (15:26), Jenica Favila (15:27), and Jonalyn Sagmayao (15:31) taking the top spots for the female.

The 1st Panagbenga Run 2014 is one of the lined-up highlight events in celebration of this year’s Flower Festival celebration, backed by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc., the city government of Baguio, Philippine Military Academy, and SM City Baguio.
