Estola, Bacol conquers Resolution Run

PHILEX Mines runner Modesto Estola and Baguio runner Pi Bacol dominated the uphill countryside of Benguet as they raced to top other runners in the male and female 21-kilometer division of the recent Resolution Run 2014 at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad.

Organized by Extreme Cordillera-Extreme Sports and Events in and backed by the Province of Benguet, a total of 150 runners from all over the country tested their speed and endurance in the half marathon event held February 16.

Estola topped the male division with Vinson Ramos and another local Jhon Ven Dinangwatan, who placed second and third respectively in the men's 21-kilometer category while Bacol lorded in the distaff side trailed by Kalyani Nam and Amelita Boyawan.

Jeffrey Aligan ruled the men’s division in the 14-kilometer category, while Julius Bay-an and Jonathan Puluguas rushed to cross the finish line in second and third place spots.

Mt. Kinabalu contender and Tinongdan star runner, Gretchen Felipe, dominated the female 14K trailblazing runners Veronica Rio and Gladys Alcido to complete the second and third places.

Race organizer Kurt Sebio said the event was quite successful and it was a good start for Extreme Cordilleras this year.

“Maganda ang naging output ng event that we lined-up this year, we hope that more people will join us sa mga following episodes spearheaded by the Extremes Cordillera group,” said Sebio.

“Actually we are already planning to launch ang susunod na event namin in celebration of the Strawberry Festival naman, that will be a 42K full marathon with 21K, 12K and 5K side events,” Sebio added.

Organizers said top ten finishers for the 21K and 14K male and female category were given finisher’s medal and certificates, with the top three for both categories given individual cash prizes.
