LYCEUM Northeastern University remained atop the standings in the on-going eliminations round of the 8th Panagbenga Invitational Basketball Tournament.
With their clean slate of 3-0 win-loss record, the LNU Dukes continue to strengthen their championship bid amongst six other competing cagers from the city and neighboring towns in the open bracket of the tournament.
La Union Colleges of Nursing, Arts and Sciences (LUCNAS) stay close to the second spot as they record with 2-0 record.
Saint Louis University Navigators presently stay in third with a 2-1 win loss slate , while Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League season 27 champions University of Baguio Cardinals rank in fourth place with 1-1 after losing to SLU in their last ballgame.
The city’s collegiate all-star Team DOS follows with 1-2, while Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Stingers (DMMMSU) from Agoo, La Union lingers at number six after suffering two straight defeats.
Meanwhile, service contractors and veteran city ballers GWE sinks at the bottom acquiring three straight losses.
Action resumes this weekend starting at 3:30p.m. at the Easter College gym with LUCNAS challenged to make an effort in bagging their third straight against Team DOS for the first game, while GWE will try to reclaim their fallen name against the UB Cardinals in game two.
On Sunday, DMMMSU Stingers will seek their first W of the season against Team DOS at 12p.m., while league leading Lyseum Dukes will battle against homegrown UB Cardinals in the second showdown. LUCNAS will face off against SLU at game three.
The tournament officiated by the National Amateur Basketball Referees Organization (NABRO) sees a total of 32 competing teams in five different brackets and expects to end by April.
