Wednesday, April 2, 2014
DESPITE the many exercise activities and enthusiasm, in a scale of 10, two out of five Filipinos may be obese and two out of 10 does not exercise at all.
Undeniably, it is a fact of life for almost half of us including our children, are victims of sedentary jobs, inertia, and technological progress.
The attitude of sitting instead of running, eating in gluttonous style instead of a balanced diet, watching instead of playing and the time spent with modern technology by individuals is like a plague that attacks health motivators to keep the individual in a sedentary state that becomes a habitual attitude adopted or wanted that push the individual to having a Hypokinetic disease.
Hypokinetic is the disease of inactiveness, like a couch potato, it is inherent that these individuals are lazy, not to move but actually to exercise. It is their sedentary lifestyle that hinders them to do exercise. Ultimately, it will come to increased inactivity, obesity etc. that will lead into an epidemic of heart disease and related illnesses.
Sometimes, people do not need medicines to be healthy. So, why not begin exercising for life, men and women who are already on the road to fitness can attest that exercise make their lives enriched and invigorated.
On the other hand, people who are inactive think they can be healthy and invigorated by synthetic supplements without exercise and thinks exercise is an added burden and a waste of time.
As many as they are, victims of inactiveness should put in mind three simple things about exercise: change your clothes, sweat, and take a shower. Although there are many ways how to sweat, let’s agree the time you start sweating, you may even get to like it and even recognize it as it is; a sign of a healthy exercising body.
On the other extreme, inactive and sedentary people sometimes sweat involuntarily because of hunger, illness, or when they feel stressed. This happens because of the pressures they experience and feel in daily living that sometimes result to psychological withdrawal that changes their behaviour because of the fear to exercise.
The road to fitness for sedentary inactive individuals, where machines of ease made their lives too easy that landed them to be fat, tense or scared because their friends and other individuals are dropping dead from heart attack and other illnesses should be made a warning or otherwise taken as learning to develop self confidence and the courage to exercise.
