Castañeto, Cawa conquers Run For Life 2-A A +A

OUTRUNNING other foot racers from the city, Cesar Castañeto Jr. and Girlie Rose Cawa topped the male and female divisions in the 18-kilometer category of the recent “Run For Life 2” held at Burnham Park, Lake Drive April 6.
Castañeto clocked 1 hour 10 minutes and 41 seconds while Cawa ruled the distaff side with 1 hour 48 minutes and 55 seconds, in a race event backed by the Baguio City Emergency Medical Service (BCEMS).
Runners Aldrin Seño and Jeff Salwagan completed the top three finishers in the men’s 18K race after clocking in 1:13:29 and 1:18:48 respectively.
Meanwhile, Laura Buchen (1:53:02) snatched second place in the women’s 18-K event together with Juliet Gayao (1:53:17) who came in at third.
Mark Christian Garcia topped the men’s 9K category after crossing the finish line with 37:22, while Jordan Tanawe and ultramarathon runner Marcelo Bautista crossed second and third with 38:04 and 40:22.
Christine Taruc from Baguio City National High School dominated the 9-kilometer female with 56:58, while Rogina Tarnate (58:28) and Sarah Pachao (58:47) came in second and third spots.
Robert Cariaga (13:45), Herminigildo Bagares (14:37), and Casey Camiwet (18:45) secured the top three spots in the male, while Franzelle Ginyang (18:47), Jennifer Oriondo (20:22), and Kyle Daluyen (20:43) respectively topped the distaff of the 3-kilometer category.
More than 300 runners participated in the event headed by BCEMS Chief Dr. John Tinoyan and organized by the Cool City Running Team.
Coinciding with its 17th year of service, BCEMS spearheaded the fund raising running event to back its medical and dental mission services this coming May in Tabaan Sur, Tuba, Benguet and Irisan, Baguio City.
