Locals dominate TNF 100 anew-A A +A

LOCAL runners Arnold Luzano, Joel Bengtay, Valerie Tauli and Sandi Abahan made good use of their familiarity of the race route to land in the podium of the tough NorthFace 100 trail running event during the weekend.
Abahan raised the Summer Capital's flag anew by topping the distaff side of the 50 kilometer race with a time of seven hours and six seconds after finishing second last year in the same race to Gretchen Felipe of Itogon, Benguet who failed to finished the race after she was reportedly to have collapsed along the route.
Coming in at second is foreigner Kemboi Patrober while another Baguio runner in Librada Tamson, checked in third.
Hong Kong’s Wong-Ho Chung, who topped the 50K event last year returned anew and conquer the 100 kilometer race distance with a time of 14 hours, 9 minutes, and 34 seconds dislodging last year’s champion Luzano who crossed the finish line with a time of 14:17:20 while ultra marathoner Joel Bengtay finished third with a time of 14:42:35.
In the distaff side, Majo Liao had almost three hours to spare after crossing the line with a time of 19:22:26 while locals Fredalyn Orpilla (22:28:37) and Tauli (23:26:00) came in third to complete the top three.
Joseph Somera was the fastest in the men’s 50 kilometer division with a time of 6:24:33 besting Robert Arellano’s time of 6:43:10 to land in second place.
Another local runner, Alison Tellas checked in at 7:00:06 to finish third.
Aldrin Seno ruled the side event 22K with a time of 1:52:29 while Ronel Ventura and Al Vincent placed second and third respectively.
Jessa Mangsat was the fastest in the women’s side with a time of 2:09:22 with Luaangela Limbo and Arlene Agulto finishing second and third.
The NorthFace 100 Philippines is part of a six-country series which has become the most well received and anticipated distance trail running in the Asia Pacific region.
