Region strucks five golds in Arnis-A A +A

STA. CRUZ, LAGUNA -- Arnis once again proved to be the region's gold mine when it comes to sports competitions.
Joemarson Rey Abogadi snatched not just one, but two gold mints in the anyo event of arnis in the ongoing Palarong Pambansa.
The high school student Abogadi impressed the judges that earned him a gold in the solo and doble baston for the region’s five gold medal burst in the first day of competition backed by the backed by the Department of Education and Philippine Sports Commission.
Josh Monroe Yalong, Eric Cagawa and Michael Sheen Pakilan also took home another gold medal from the region in the secondary boys synchronized team doble baston event.
Abogadi, Cagawa, and Pakilan also teamed up to snatch a silver medal in the secondary boys synchronized team solo baston contest.
In the secondary distaff, Cristel Baltazar, Ezra Rai Yalong, and Felvy Ah-lul, who also snatched a bronze medal in the individual doble baston event, outperformed the competition adding another gold medal in the secondary girls synchronized team doble baston contest.
Meanwhile, Ravena Murillo dominated the elementary boys individual solo baston contest to win a gold medal.
Murillo, together with Timothy Angway, Erica Leanmae Cordillon, and Ganica Rose Nisperos took two bronze medals in the mixed doble baston event.
The 56th staging of the Palarong Pambansa officially opened May 5th at the Sta. Cruz Sports Complex with more than 11,200 athletes from the 17 participating regions including thousands of local and visiting spectators in attendance.
This year, CAR sends a total of 659 delegates to vie for honors in the week-long competition that will happen until May 10.
