Coach John Hongitan said the team will try to add more medals as the competition continues.

"Maraming magagaling na competitors who are even better than last year, mahirap maging confident since nakita natin na sa umpisa ng mga shooting rounds we are among the leading but later on the competitors edge us by points," Hongitan said.

Baguio City National High School archer Chloe Balaoing earlier vied for second spot in the secondary girls 30 and 40 meter contest but failed to sustain landing in the 4th and 6th spot at the end of the day.

Hongitan added he is still confident his athletes will perform better as the competition runs until Friday afternoon.

"We still have few more days and few more events to participate, I hope they can continue adding more awards before the Palaro closes," Hongitan said.

"The climate really is making the difference right now, although we have been here long marami pa ring mas sanay kesa sa mga athletes ng CAR. Let’s hope they can carry a better performance until the last day, " Hongitan added.

Department of Education-CAR carry with them 659 delegates in the week-long 2014 Palaro.

Earlier, the region's elementary and secondary arnisadors draw first blood in CAR's medal hunt after bagging five golds, three silvers, and three bronze.

Medals will be given to the various sport contest during their respective closing and awarding ceremonies.
