Castañeto, Martes tops 4th Brent Run-A A +A

BLAZING across the finish line, Cesar Castañeto Jr. and marathon queen Cristabel Martes took the top spots of the podium in the 22-kilometer event of the 4th Brent Run which started and ended at Brent International School during the weekend.
University of the Cordilleras’ (UC) Castañeto topped the men’s side with a time of 1:33:24 of the 22-kilometer (22K) uphill and downhill course in the men’s category, while Martes conquered the distaff after clocking 1:36:23.
Mark Christian Garcia checked in at close second with 1:33:37 followed by Leo Javier to take the third place finish in the men’s division. Rowena Ba-a and Lua Limbo completed the top three finishers for the women’s with 2:02:19 and 2:10:50, respectively.
Aldrin Seño topped the male 11K contest after clocking 48:53, together with Joneleo Dis-ing crossing with 49:38.
Annaliza Maraan lorded the 11K distaff clocking 1:03:59 as Kalyani Nam and Joy Lumpias finished second and third honors with 1:12:04 and 1:14:52 respectively.
Vinzon Ramos (14:33), Peñaflor Cielo (14:54), and Eugene Seño (15:55) topped the men’s 3-kilometer event as Kelly Shin (25:21) and Russia Egmalis (27:19) ruled in the distaff.
In the 3K-kids division, Romeo Juanpaolo Padilla out run other participants for the males clocking a total of 22:19, with James James and Dash Ramos completing the top three with 22:20 and 22:38 respectively.
Meanwhile, Callile Coronado (24:47), Patricia Lagazon (26:36) and Grace Hore (29:16) fill out the podium for the girls.
Hosted by Brent International School Baguio Parents and Teachers Association 2013-2014 the 4th edition of this road and trail footrace will benefit the PROJECT Schools for Schools aimed to help rebuild a school in Guian, Samar heavily devastated by typhoon Yolanda.
A total of 550 local runners, students, parents, and sport enthusiast participated and supported the cause during the event.
According to organizers, some 3,000 students will benefit by the start of this school year as classrooms are being constructed as of press time.
