AFTER enjoying a huge success in its previous staging, members of the executive committee of the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League is hoping to bring in more improvements when it ushers a new season this year.

With some member schools opting to open classes by August, the most anticipated collegiate league in the region is also pushing back its 28th season to later opening date.

Season 27 BBEAL commissioner Alec Mapalo said earlier the collegiate sports league will continue to raise the bar in terms of competition.
Mapalo however said the committee has yet to decide on other improvements being planned for the almost three-decade run of the league.

“All of the new events raised the awareness and support of the students coming from the different member schools, not all were as successful as we expected but it added new grounds for us to evaluate,” Mapalo said.

According to Mapalo, the committee will still decide the date of the opening slated either last week of August or first week September.

The University of the Philippines-Baguio, Saint Louis University, and University of Baguio announced to re-arrange their academic calendar earlier last year.

Mapalo conferred through facebook Baguio College of Technology, the newest member of the league, intends to host the season and was already endorsed for the technical committee to decide.

He said whoever hosts BBEAL should set aside its worries as the whole organization will always help and give assistance.

“Tulong-tulong pa rin naman kami which ever school needs to host, that is why although there has to be a cycle in the hosting kapag hindi nag-confirm ang succeeding school there will always be someone to back up with,” Mapalo said.

Other schools participating in BBEAL include Baguio Central University, Benguet State University, Cordillera Career Development College, Philippine Military Academy, Pines City College Inc., and University of the Cordilleras.
