TDB 2nd leg slated July 19-20

ENDURANCE of every runner will be tested anew as the second leg of the 2014 Tour De Benguet kicks off July 19 and 20 in Mangkayan, Benguet.

Dubbed as "Bronze Leg", the second among a five part series of running events will be cruising its way across the mountain slopes of the Halsema Highway starting at the provincial capitol en route to the mining town of Mankayan.

The uphill and downhill ultra marathon will cover a race distance of 90-kilometers with side event of 26-kilometers with registration fees at P2250 and P1200 accordingly.

Organizers said cut-off for the 90K event will be given at exactly 18 hours.

Race routes will showcase a panoramic view passing the municipalities of La Trinidad, Tublay, Atok, Buguias and Mankayan.

All registration fees are inclusive of race shirts (long sleeves), race bibs, finisher’s shirt, head gear, medals, meals, transportation, and special tour within the mentioned municipalities during the scheduled briefing.

Part of the proceeds will help fund the medical missions at Mankayan and Atok.

According to the organizers, cash prizes will be given to top finishers in each category including freebies.

TBD 2014, branded as the biggest series of foot races in the province, is created to promote the whole of Benguet covering race distances of 50K, 90K, 125K, 100K, and 50K, respectively.

The winners in the 90k category will get to earn point credits in a chance to take the overall title and a cash prize of P50,000 when all legs of the race finish this October.
