IGOROT knock out specialist Rex Wa-o went toe-to-toe against Virden Rivera before finishing the bout in seventh round to win the vacant WBC International bantamweight title at the Andres Bonifacio Gymnasium, Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.

Wa-o extended his winning streak to 10 including eight knockouts that will catapult his rankings in the world boxing following the huge winWednesday evening in the event hatched by the Highland Boxing Promotions.

“It was one of the best performance by Rex. Talagang balikatan sila ni Virden taska toe-to-toe sila,” relates Wa-o’s manager Brico Santig of the Highland Boxing gym.

The bout, according the Santig was too close to call but Wa-o knew it was just a matter of time when he landed a flurry of punches in the seventh round with Bruce McTavish stopping the bout with rivera suffering his first loss in eight fights.

In the equally exciting co-main event, Gensan's Ernie Sanchez (14-5-1, 5 KO's) of the Highland Boxing Stable and veteran Randy Megrino (15-17-3, 8 KO's) of Iligan City fought to a split decision draw. At stake was the WBC Youth Featherweight belt but remains vacant following the draw.

Manny Pacquiao’s cousin, 22-year-old Sarangani rookie Warlight Dapidran (3-0, 2 KO) kept his unbeaten record intact after knocking out Jerry Salivio during their 4-rounder in the light weight division.

Twenty two -year-old Zamboangueño Allan Tanada (13-2, 5 KO's) who recently returned from Australia, won a split decision over journeyman Mark Sales (20-37-3, 6 KO's) of Gensan in their close lightweight contest.
