Honeymoon flips Tranco despite struggle-A A +A

AFTER struggling to earn the lead during the first half of the ballgame, Barangay Honeymoon pounce Trancoville squad in the 6:00 mark of the third canto to open the season with a victory in the tip-off of the 5th Samahang Barangay Pangkalikasan (SBP) Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Arnel Santos and Vic Nuñez lead Honeymoon with 37 combined points that closed the curtains against their opponents, 74-59, at the South Sanitary Camp covered court Saturday morning.
Hapless in the second period, Nuñez rallied a nine-point outburst in the third canto that sparked life to Honeymoon and tie the ballgame at 40 all with 6:00 left in the quarter.
Trancoville bounced back in front 40-44, with Christian Junatas forcing his way in the painted area for but Santos and Nuñez delivered another eight points including a back-to-back three pointer that closed the third period at 48-52.
Trancoville failed to sustain their momentum going into the pay off period after Renato Villanueva and JR Mondata teamed-up for Honeymoon to force their opponent in missing the baskets behind their superb floor defense.
“We are happy to open the season with a win, sana mag-improve pa throughout the season. The fundamentals today are good passing, good defense, and good shooting lalo na sa second half,” said Honeymonn coach Victor Tibangwa.
Santos scored 20 points, Nuñez added 17, while Villanueva and Modata added 10 points apiece.
Mike Bocasan led Trancoville with 14 points while Junatas, Nemar Lazaga, and Ramil Alimba scored 13, 11, and 10 respectively.
Earlier, MV Good Shepherds drained Quirino Hill in the first game, 81-64, while Barangay Pinget walloped the Dominican squad, 94-73. Mark Victor Pasagoy
