WITH two weeks left before the scheduled Korean tiff, lady archer Kareel Meer Hongitan extends her training routines in hope to help the country’s bid in the upcoming tournament next month.

Hongitan will be off to Korea for the 2014 Seoul International Sports Festa slated August 3-9 and will be the first international outing for the city's top lady archer, which will pair with three other marksmen representing the distaff side of the country.

The 16-year-old archer promises to be in her best condition when the week long tournament kicks off.

"I have been training hard every day, gusto ko kasi at least maging malaking backer sa ladies team na sasali doon sa Korea," Hongitan said.

The lady archer, who is currently playing for the University of Baguio Cardinals, is eyeing for the top spots in the upcoming Korean tiff.

"Siyempre dapat well prepared and nasa good condition kami when we start to compete in there, hopefully maganda lahat ang maging performance namin para manalo," Hongitan said.

Hongitan said the first day of the tourney will be the challenging part for the Philippine squad, who will most probably battle with little rest from their travel.

"Magiging big challenge na lang since from the airport diretso agad kami sa first day ng competition according sa mga coordinators," Hongitan added.

Hongitan, will be joining seven other athletes from the national pool as the country sends one team for both boys and girls.

The Bachelor of Science Tourism student holds the number two spot in the female cadets division in the entire Philippine, after the PANNA National Ranking and Evaluation Competitions held earlier in April.

Together with Hongitan, the Philippine women's team will include top ranked Marie Crisha Merto from Dumaguete City, Manila based archer Bianca Gotauco, and Mary Ibañez from San Fernando, La Union.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Luis Moreno, NicJim Oliver, Michael Vincent Cabral, and Ryu Kawasaki will be bannering the men’s team.
