WITH the proposed amendment to the old age sports incentive program of the city, the Baguio City Sports Office will seek the inclusion of team events in the new proposal.

City Sports Coordinator Gaudencio Gonzales told Sun.Star Baguio the sports office will seek some insertions to the proposal of Councilor Faustino Olowan before the end of the week.

"In the proposed resolution kasi ni Councilor Olowan he just mentioned the raise of incentives para sa individual events, hindi nakasali ang team events kaya iyon ngayon ang gagawin ng CSO, ang magbigay ng proposal para mabigyan ng solution ang confusion on incentives for the team sports," Gonzales said.

Gonzales said the proposal will benefit athletes playing in team event who will gain honors in national and international events.

“This will address iyong matagal nang tanong na bakit kapag team ang nananalo sa national competition parehas lang ang narereceive sa individual event. Hopefully the council will be able to review it well para in the future mas madali na para sa CSO ang pag-release ng mga cash incentives,” Gonzales quipped.

In the CSO proposal, team events who will win in the international stage composed of 6-11 members will be receiving P100,000 for gold; P60,000 for silver; and P40,000 for bronze, while teams with 5 members and below will collect P60,000; P40,000; and P30,000 accordingly.

For national competitions, teams with 6-11 members will be given P50,000; P40,000; and P30,000 (gold-silver-bronze), with their coaches receiving P10,000; P7,000; and P5,000 accordingly.

Meanwhile, individual athletes will receive P30,000, P20,000, and P10,000 for international contests, with coaches receiving P15,000, P10,000, and P5,000 accordingly.

National individual medallists will receive P15,000; P10,000; and P5,000 with their coaches to get P10,000; P7,000; and P5,000 respectively for gold, silver, and bronze.

In the existing city ordinance, the city gives top international athletes P10,000 for gold; P5,000 for silver; and P3,000 for bronze medals. The coaches, on the other hand, get P5,000, P3,000; and P2,000, respectively.
