Hongitan, together with seven other young Filipino archers from the country will seek for pride and honors as the annual sports event backed by Win&Win and promoted by Benel Archery opens in South Korea slated August 3-9.

“I want to be a huge part of the Philippine team when the week-long contest starts. I hope we’ll be able to stand out from other competing teams when the tournament ends,” Hongitan told Sun.Star Baguio.

The lady archer, who is currently playing for the University of Baguio Cardinals, is hoped to be among the top Filipina in the contest.

“I am very lucky to be among the country’s representatives. Maybe if we land a good performance, there more career breaks will come for us,” Hongitan said.

“We will just have to see if our long time preparation will pay-off well,” Hongitan added.

Hongitan will be joining seven other athletes from the national pool as the country sends one team for both boys and girls.

The BS Tourism school girl seized the number two spot in the female cadets division in the entire Philippine, after the PANNA National Ranking and Evaluation Competitions held earlier in April.

Together with Hongitan, the Philippine women’s team who will compete includes top ranked Marie Crisha Merto from Dumaguete City, Manila based archer Bianca Gotauco, and Mary Ibañez from San Fernando, La Union.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Luis Moreno, Nic Jim Oliver, Michael Vincent Cabral, and Ryu Kawasaki will be bannering the men’s team.

The event backed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Sports Council and Seoul Archery Association is set to sponsor all entries with free board and lodging, including registration fees for each of the invited teams in each division.
