PBA legends to storm La Trinidad

FORMER Purefoods star Alvin Patrimonio lead former PBA stars in a game against Benguet players for a benefit game for elders and people with disability (PWD).

Slated August 29, the current SanMig Coffee Mixers team manger will be joined by eight other former PBVA stars who will be pitted against an all-star Benguet side, many former college basketball players, which tips off at 4 pm at the CCDC gym as tentative venue.

“PWDs and medicine for our elderlies will be our main thrust in organizing the event,” said Kathleen Cirilio-Fagyan of the organizing G-String/Crazy Kay Productions of the PBA Legends All Stars basketball charity exhibition games.

Patrimonio will be backed by former team mates Bong Hawkins, EJ Feihl, PBA’s tallest player ever and former rivals, Marlou Aquino, Noli Locsin, Bal David, Bong Hawkins and Johnny Abarrientos.

“We still have to get players from the 57 team G-String Cup,” said G-String commissioner Jerry Jimenez, former Saint Louis University basketball coach.
The event will also feature a game between two-Baguio Benguet Educational Athletic League teams, most probably SLU and rival and defending champion University of Baguio, Jimenez added.

Fagyan said the former PBA stars will have an autograph signing and photo ops while souvenir shirts will also be sold during the event which could yet be the biggest basketball outing in the capital town.

Tickets for the event will be P700 for the courtside tickets (rows 1 and 2), P500 for other courtside seats and P200 for the upper bleachers, added Fagyan.

Meanwhile, Crossroads, which is Beneco’s first team, still lead the four team Bracket A or open division with three wins and two losses in the ongoing G- String Cup. Former UB star Bart Parrocha leads the team with fellow Beneco players Regan Acdong backing him up.

Parrocha’s former UB team mate Jerry Rigos leads Janned/GWE to a 3-1 slate and at second spot. Former UC star Rudolf Eilenger gives Isaac a 2-2 slate, even as CCDC occupies the cellar with no win and three losses.

RJ leads bracket C with 4-1 slatem followed by Isaac (3-2), Beneco (2-3) and Joseans (2-3).

Saints is perfect with seven wins to tow bracket D which has eight teams. Fivers has one loss in seven outings to take second spot, followed by Isaac (4-2). Pocna (4-3), Huskies (2-4), Morning Boys (2-4), Brennants (1-5) and Agi-Kabayan (0-7) occupy the fourth to eighth spots.

NBF or New Benguet Freshies, a team by Benguet Gov. Nestor Fongwan leads in bracket E with a 6-2 card. Close at second is Sunjin (5-1), followed by Bryan (5-3). The rest of the standings are as follows: North Angels (4-3), Gaizer (4-3), Optimus (3-4), Isaac (2-5), Cinco (2-5) and Lolo Cinco (2-6).

In bracket F which has 10 teams, Balingan Construction is tops with a 7-1 card even as two teams occupy the second spot with similar 6-2 card namely Revelation and Careo. The rest of the standing sees Gawis (5-2) at fourth, followed by Konyap (4-4), Stunners (4-4), Freedom Spartan (3-4), Kent Truckings (2-6), Brocolli (1-8) and Conguinto (1-8).

Santisima leads the 10-team bracket G with a perfect 8-0 slate. Tabao-ao is at second spot with a 702 card followed by Puguis (5-2), Crystal Clear (5-4), JMBG (4-4) Amigos (4-4), Cinco (3-4), Health 100 (1-5), Igorotak (1-6) and Berries (1-8).

In bracket 35’s (35 years olf and above), Isaac tows the five team field with a 4-1 slate. Sunjin is at second with 4-2, Joseans is at third with 3-2, even as the Printmore (2-3) and Chargers (1-5) complete the standing.

Isaac makes it two for two as it leads the 40’s with a pristine 6-0 slate.

The cops from Camp Dangwa or ProCor are at second with 5-2 slate. Team Builders (3-4), Sunjin (3-2), LGU (1-5) and Autofield (0-5) complete the standing.
