BAGUIO City Mayor Mauricio Domogan is pressed on pursuing temporary improvement for the track oval of the Baguio Athletic Bowl.
Although a rehabilitation is already in the works for the sports facility, Domogan said the supplemental budget from the city will fund only short-term improvements for the hosting of the 2015 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association.
“Yung city generated na supplemental budget will be allocated for the oval but as per chance it may be for temporary use only,” Domogan said.
According to Domogan, the City Engineer’s Office is currently working on a feasibility study aimed for the development of the area.
“Meron nga kasi yung tinatapos na study which will be for the development of the whole Athletic Bowl,” Domogan added.
He said the city is currently waiting for the presentation of the plans before the city release any budget for the intended project.
Earlier, the city council poured their support to the planned rehabilitation of the seven-hectare land.
Last month, Councilor Elmer Datuin requested some P100 million supplemental budget from the city which will be used for the installation of tartan tracks and restoration of drainage.
According to the City Building and Architects Office, they are still waiting for the mayor to direct the needed funding.
Meanwhile, the reconstruction of the bleachers by the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera is seen to begin later in September.
Some P14.7 million was earmarked by the DPWH-CAR for the rebuilding of the 96 meter span bleachers including the building of a main grandstand and a sport utility office.
