Santig nominated as honorary promoter of the year

Friday, April 21, 2017

BENGUET-BASED boxing promoter Brico Santig was recently selected as WBC Asia Honorary promoter of the Year 2016.

Santig, who manages and owns the Highland Boxing Gym in La Trinidad, was chosen for his outstanding performance last year.

The award will be conferred on May 24 during the WBC Asia/WBC Muay Thai press conference and annual awards to be held at Asia Hotel, Ratchathewee in Bangkok, Thailand.

Santig said the award is a testament to the hard work of his boxers and trainers in the Highland Gym who have won regional and world championships.

He also captured the WBC Asian Boxing Council Promoter of the Year Award in 2014 and 2015.

Among his notable fighters include former IBO light flyweight champion Rey Loreto, Sonny Katiandagho, Carlo Magale, Rex Wa-o, brothers Randy and Rey Megrino and other budding fighters from the Cordillera region.

The boxing promoter said it’s an honor and privilege to receive the award as he vowed to work harder for up and coming fighters in giving them exposure and hopefully become a world champion. (Roderick Osis)
