KHYLA Kreanzzel Guinto, the Cordilleran gold medalist for taekwondo in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa in Antique were among the seven individuals and groups honored during the 67th Foundation Day celebrations of the Municipality of La Trinidad.
Guinto helped the region score its most medal in the annual Palarong Pambansa by bagging a gold in the mixed pair event.
Joining Guinto in the annual Golden Kayabang Award are Calajo Restaurant for business establishment, former La Trinidad Mayor Edna Tabanda for women, STOBOSA Women’s Brigade under the Civil Society Organizations, Orly Primo for youth, Dr. Imelda Degay for the academe and Benguet State University Multipurpose Cooperative.
“For the past years prior to 2014, we have been giving recognitions and awards to our distinguished citizens who have achieved remarkable feats that contribute to the progress and development of our municipality,” explains Municipal Council Secretary Teddy Walang.
Posthumus Award was also given to Captain John Bayao Jr. including police senior inspector Gednat Tabdi, Police Officer 2 (PO2) Jerry Kayob and PO2 Tirso Mantalaba with their family members receiving their plaque of appreciation.
The La Trinidad Accredited Community Disaster Volunteers (ACDV) was awarded MDRR Award while Jefferson Laruan, Rogel Marzan and Agnes Aayo, the owners of Lilly of the Valley Organic Farm, Cosmic Farm and AAU Organic Farm were awarded under the Agricultural Learning Site Award.
Romeo Kimbungan, Yoshi Labi, Abner Lawangen, Sherilyn Balauro, PSI Jenelyn Kiwingan and Judge Delilah Munoz were recognized under the Sangguniang Bayan Award.
Special awards were also given to Ernesto Dongbo, Jumelyn Buya and Vecker Tero were awared under agriculture, Raul Dadagan and Jhazel Villena for the youth, Catherine Pilapil for women and Arnulfo Pagaduan under public service.
Baranggay Alapang Multipurpose Cooperative (BALMUCO) Domestic Water Serivce was also awarded under business and Alapang Women’s Organization under the civil society organization.
Qualifications for the awards in both individual and group must have a recommendation from any person, group or organization, a commendation by the Municipal Council through a resolution for exemplary and commendable recognition and any recognized feat from June 17 of the previous year to June 16 of the current year.
Nomimees must also be a citizen of the municipality for individual category while groups and organization must be based in town, never awarded for the past five years in the same field and achievement must be exemplary and have made a significant impact within the community.
