BAGUIO -- Benguet Educational Athletic League men’s basketball defending champion University of the Cordilleras Jaguars takes on the visiting UST Growling Tigers as part of their rebuilding for the upcoming season.
Although the team remains intact with only three players graduated, coach Albin Santos said the pre-season tune up will serve as gauge for the reigning champions who will take on the visitors at 4 p.m.
“This will be a good test for the team so will know how are we going to fare with other squads in the upcoming BBEAL,” said Santos.
Santos added the Jaguars lost bigman June Rey Buenaventura, Michael Zapanta and Payas but he remains optimistic the team will still be the team to beat in the upcoming BBEAL.
“I believe other schools will also beef up their line up so where expecting a tough competition again,” said Santos who steered the school to its fourth title over-all in the almost 31 year old league after sweeping the Baguio College of Technology Atoms.
The team will see the return of John Ric Buenaventura, Krenz Trinidad and the sweet shooting Daniel Tabangcura in the fold.
Santos added they are also eyeing new recruits to step up for the school to step up in the exhibition match to be played at the UC gym. (Roderick Osis)
