UNIVERSITY of Baguio Cardinals returns to the win column after tearing apart a hapless Cordillera Career Development College, 106 – 50, in men’s basketball of the Baguio–Benguet Educational Athletic League at the UB Gym Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals found their groove back from the three point territory, scoring 11 from beyond the arc to control the ball game after suffering back to back defeats in the hands of defending champion University of the Cordilleras Jaguars and Saint Louis University Navigators.

“Ayaw pa sigurong mag bakasyon ng mga bata. Alam naming sa elimination game, isa pang talo lulubog na sila ,” said UB coach Joel Flores after the huge win.

Flores added the squad was able to box out and rebounded better against the Admirals while employing their patented man to man defense which resulted to 22 turnovers during the ball game.

The Cardinals, in scoring their third win in five games, tore the game wide open with a 36–17 lead midway in the second period allowing the Admirals to only seven points in the entire period with UB enjoying a 51- 19 lead at half time.

Maenard Rae Razo led all scorers with his game high 19 points including five triples while Libert Beejay Caccam, Jhon Erick Victorio and Omer Afzal Baluch chipped in 12 points each.

Cedric Tolentino added 11 for the Cardinals while Ferdinand Coloma had 10 markers with 11 UB Cardinals who were fielded in the ball game scoring.
The Admirals, which fell to 3-2, missed the services of Manuel Felix Jr. who sprained his ankle in the early minutes of the first period which limited CCDC’s rotation.

“Hindi kame nakapag adapat sa laro ng UB. Nag kulang kami sa effort ng players kasi nasira ang rotation namin lalo na nung naijnury si Felix sa first quarter palang,” said CCDC coach Butch Diaz.

Paul John Narvaez led the Admirals with 17 markers while Auster Jim Babliing had 11 points.

Earlier, Baguio College of Technology Atoms repulsed Baguio Central University Eagles, 99–71, to stay in contention for a final four berth.
Reynil Amargo top scored for the Atoms with 19 points and improved its record to 4–1 while Marben Asilio had 16 with Azzir Rabara, Lito Villanueva, and Armando Pollante adding 15, 14, and 13 points respectively.

BCU meanwhile was led by Nadres Bugnya Jr and John Burton with 18 apiece while Dave Macanas had 14 as the squad fell to 1–4. (Roderick Osis/With reports from Jean Nicole Paus, UB Intern)
