STEPHEN Loman made sure Team Lakay won another world title.

And the University of the Cordilleras student did it with passion after knocking out Gurdarshan Mangat in the 2:08 mark of the opening round to win Brave Combat Federation’s inaugural bantamweight title in front of a Filipino crowd at the Khalifa Sports City in Bahrain, Friday evening.
Loman engaged his Indian national in a striking battle with Mangat trying to subdue the Igorot warrior but to no avail. The end came when Loman delivered a left hook then unleashed his ground and pound after Mangat fell to the mat.

“I just focused, stay composed, relaxed, and stick to my game plan, said Loman in his post fight interview.

Loman's victory is his fourth consecutive and ninth over-all with two loses. He was earlier primed to fight for a title in another MMA promotions but the bout got scrapped.

Ealier Jeremy Pacatiw suffered a technical knockout in the first round against Jalal Al Daja in the preliminary bouts.

The newly minted bantamweight titlist is the first Asian to compete for the belt and the youngest contender in the promotions history.

Coach Mark Sangiao meanwhile lauded Loman and Pacatiw's effort inside the cage.

“When Team Lakay's Stephen Loman entered that cage, he was carrying our nation's colour. He hoisted our flag and it was displayed! Team Lakay's Jeremy Pacatiw executed his due, he fall short though but that doesn't mean he's done. Again, thank you so much for your continual support, for your prayers and for believing, Thank you,” said Sangiao.
