UB and UC clinch HRAB beauty tilt

TYLA Rodriguez from the University of Baguio and Michael Rey Cacho from the University of the Cordilleras were hailed as the 2010 Mr. and Ms. Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio.

Coronation night was set Friday at the Baguio Convention Center with another University of the Cordilleras bet bagging first runner up, Michael Gary Oller, in tandem with Saint Louis University's Rubie Jane Rabara.

Second runners up were both UB's Helena Lou Hungario and David John Quema.

Included in the magic circle of six were Mark Anthony Montenegro, Glen Karlo Victorio, Domingo Rico Jr. all from UB. The ladies in the magic six were Shekinah Bagtas, Geneva Soliven and Klanzza Caye Silva.

Winning questions for the top winners ranged from security and safety and the ill fated hostage crisis impact in the tourism industry which both Rodriguez and Cacho answered with ease.

Twenty-nine top students of the Hotel and Restaurant industry participated in the contest which was one of the highlights of the Hotel and Restaurant Weekend.

Mr. and Ms. Congeniality were Knight Coloma and Sheena Mae Lugangis from Pines City Colleges and Easter College, respectively.

Bagging Mr. and Ms. Talent were Klanzza Caye Silva and David Quema from UC and UB while Best in Swimsuit were Michael Ray Cacho and Shekinah Bagtas also from UB and UC.

Best in casual wear were Michael Ray Cacho and Tyla Rodriguez who bagged the top awards of the evening while darling of the press were Coloma and Lugangis.

The Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Weekend highlights talents of students as well as the skills of the industry partners with this year's theme: "A Gastronomical Adventure in the Cordilleras", makes the city as the culinary center of the North. (with reports from Kristian Leprozo)
