UB-SIHTM holds its Day & Night

The University of Baguio School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (UB-SIHTM) conducted its Day & Night on July 19, 2010. The different committees organized a variety of activities for the faculty, staff, and students alike.

SIHTM family strengthens relationship

The IHTM Day was held in the morning with the theme, "Strengthening Relationships: the Way of the Champions". It highlighted on the induction of the incoming officers of the different organizations which was officiated by the Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Miss Annabelle C. Belting. Another significant activity was the turnover ceremony of the outgoing to the incoming officers.

Moreover, parlor games were prepared not only for the enjoyment of the participants but to strengthen the camaraderie that existed among members of the family. Also, a number of talented students, like the IHTM Sanglaw dancers, Foreign (Korean) students dance group, and UB Phoenix Dance Organization, graced the affair.

The activity was made possible by the concerted efforts of the Committee on IHTM Day, the College Student Council, the Travel Club, Front Liners Club, Young Innovative Chefs, Excellent Shots, Honor Society, and the dean's office under the able leadership of Dean Melanie Rulla-Saro.

SIHTM flaunts E-beauty from within

The second part of the event was the SIHTM Night which carried the theme, "Earth Warrior Goes Global". This tagged the Search for Mr. & Ms. IHTM which paraded the environmental beauties in their national costumes representing countries around the globe. Likewise, the faculty and staff were in their Filipiniana attire that displayed the magnificence of the Philippine costume.

There were 14 female candidates vying for the Ms. IHTM 2010 and 13 male candidates vying for the title of Mr. IHTM 2010. They all came with their supporters and inspirations. The candidates competed for the different special categories such as, Mr. & Ms. Congeniality, Mr. & Ms. Photogenic, Best in Casual Wear, Best in National Costume, Best in Swim Wear, Best in Formal Attire (Mr.), Best in Evening Gown (Ms.), and Best in Essay (Mr. & Ms.).

The panel of the board of judges was composed of Mr. Rian Fernandez, Miss Tet Enciso, Miss Eljay Ursua, Mr. Larry Ribaya, and Mr. Reinaldo "Peter Rey" Bautista, Jr.

At the end of the pageant night, the following landed as winners:

Mr. & Ms. IHTM 2010 - Roberto Angelo Sandoval & Joanna Marie Victorio

1st Runners-up - David Quema & Tyla Rodriguez

2nd Runners-up - Domingo Rico Jr. & Kimberly Mae Penchon

3rd Runners-up - Bryan Randall Gamurot & Johanna Mae Lopez

4th Runners-up - Anthony Montenegro & Edna Diaz

Further, nominees and finalists for the Top Performing Teachers in the four categories-

General Education, AHRM and AAHRM, BSTM Program, and BSHRM Program-were recognized by the Office of Dean. The finalists are Ms. Maricris S. Agas, Ms. Miriam Isabel G. Cabanban, Miss Rizalina M. Castillo and Mr. Dionisio D. Nisperos.

Dean Saro acknowledged all the faculty and staff of SIHTM, the Pageant Committee, the CSC, the different student organizations, and students for the success of such momentous affair.
