This picture, taken by Joshua Dizon, is the poster image of “Expressions” a Digital Photography Exhibit by NoCredit Photographers at the Flying Gecko along Session Road.

It is a collection of 11 photographs varying in subjects and given interpretation by the artists Richard Balonglong, Mark Dawin Caballar, Waffy Casem, Everdene de Leon, Joshua Dizon, Jesse Gallardo, Carl Cariño Taawan, Eddie Tanguilig and Jerry Telvas with the special participation of Mon David and Noli Gabilo.

To Joshua, an engineer by profession, his photograph is an expression of individuality. Entitled “Non- conformist,” his interpretation of the photograph validates Amy Lowell’s quotation. Joshua says of this particular photograph: “Photographs are excellent means of expressing your individuality. These, as with most things you do or create, have your touch, your personal style, your signature. This makes it stand out from the countless photographs taken by others, this makes it ‘yours.’ This is mine.”

The photographs, varying in subjects and perspectives, carry the artists’ personal trademark and interpretation. “Twitterpated” as an expression caught my attention and fancy. This was coined by Mark Dawin Caballar In his photograph. Also given interpretation are expressions such as ecstatic, happiness, melancholy, aloneness, freedom, veneration and tranquility.

The photographs measuring 20" x 30" and printed on art canvas are on display at the Flying Gecko until July 25.

At the unveiling of the photos on June 27, sought- after photographer Ric Maniquis, renowned travel photographer Noli Gabilo and Flying Gecko managing director Maricel Baluyut cut the ribbon to formally open the exhibit. Milling through the crowd which filled the venue were Ompong Tan, Rudi Tabora, Eliza Consul, BenHur Villanueva, Martin Valeriano, Cezar de Leon and Willy Magtibay, all notable names in the field of photography and the arts.

Their very encouraging comments wiped away the exhaustion and anxiety felt by the group.

And as had been the objective of the exhibit from the start, this is NoCredit Photographers’ way of thanking the people who have supported, believed in and inspired them in their art.

To NoCredit Photographers, congratulations and kudos! And like Mon David said in his speech, carry on the good job and may you continue to inspire others to pursue their dreams.

We are all looking forward to your next exhibits…
